Care Giver’s Support Group: A 6 month program begins January 14 at the church with the meeting time from 11am-12:30pm. It will meet once a month to offer support, resources, and fellowship.
This is offered for anyone who is providing care giving on a regular basis no matter the circumstances.
Back-Pack Ministry: Once a week during the school year, breakfast, lunch and snack items are packed into bags for an elementary school in our community. Children are identified by their teachers and counselors as those who may have a nutritional need during the weekend. Several other churches have joined in this ministry so that the elementary schools and middle school in Rockmart are being served.
Jesus said, “Feed my sheep” and Rockmart Presbyterian responds.
Book Group meets throughout the school year to read and discuss a book of interest. We meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at 10:30 a.m. See Newsletter for current selection.
Vacation Bible School is held during the summer and is considered an outreach ministry. Dates and themes are posted annually with the invitation for community children to join.
Journey Through Grief classes are offered from time to time. Grief is a powerful emotion that can take time and process to walk through. Join others as they work together to find healing and wholeness.
Missionary Support: Rockmart Presbyterian Church supports several missionary endeavors. Our foreign mission project is to aid Malawi.
Mission Teams: Several of our members have served on mission trips to foreign countries, sharing the good news of the Gospel and working to improve the area that they visit. For the past few years we have joined with the Cartersville Presbyterian Church on a mission trip so that our people are able to serve Christ beyond our own community. As our mission trip participants engage in service, they are transformed--ready to engage in new mission here in Rockmart.
Safe Haven: The church is a supervised visitation facility for families who are attempting to reunite. Members have been trained to supervise and to document the visits to assist the Department of Family and Children’s Services. Coming to the church offers a non-threatening environment so that the families can have a more relaxed atmosphere for visitation. The church is committed to bringing families together and to serving the community.
Operation Christmas Child: At Christmas, the Rockmart Presbyterian Church collects shoe boxes to send to children abroad through the Operation Christmas Child Project.
Bi-Annual Christmas Pageant: Costumes, music and readings make the stoey of Jesus' birth come to life. The adoring angels and bowing wise men provide a visual scene that lingers and fills the viewer with wonder and awe. This is a highlight for the members of the congregation and the community as all participate in this moving scene.
Disaster Relief: Throughout the year other items are collected to be sent abroad or to remain in the states. Baby kits, hygiene kits and cleanup buckets have been distributed to communities near us after disaster has struck. Most recently, hygiene kits and cleanup buckets were sent to Adairsville immediately following the tornado there... We believe hands on opportunities are important for our members to feel connected.
Ministerial Association: The Presbyterian Church is involved with the Rockmart Ministerial Association, providing leadership and participation. Holy Week services are a vital aspect of the ecumenical faith. National Day of Prayer and other gatherings have been added since 2007 so that the faith community is meeting together more frequently and learning ao appreciate one another.
Volunteer Opportunities: Financial and volunteer support are given to a wide range of ministries. Local charities are assisted like Red Cross, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Relay for Life Cancer Drive and the United Fund. In addition individual families are assisted as needed. Several members of the church have been trained and certified to supervise visitation for families through the Safe Haven project. International mission remains highly important to the congregants: money is donated to several mission agencies and items are collected to send directly to mission fields.
Mission drives the church and is experienced at Rockmart Presbyterian Church through many forms.
